Hopax is a manufacturer and supplier of CAPS (CAS 1135-40-6), a zwitterionic biological buffer often used as a buffering agent in biological and biochemical research.


Uses of CAPS Buffer:

  • Cation exchange chromatography
  • Capillary electrophoresis
  • Diffusion blotting and electroblotting
  • In the study of enzymatic processes above physiological pH
  • Used as an effective crystallization solution for different proteins
  • The longer carbon chain of the sulfonic acid group in CAPS gives it a slightly more alkaline range than CHES Buffer (also manufactured by Hopax)
