Hopax is a manufacturer and supplier of BES (CAS 10191-18-1), a zwitterionic biological buffer, often used as a buffering agent in biological and biochemical research.
Uses of BES Buffer:
- Researchers have used BES as a binding buffer and eluent in cation exchange chromatography as well as a buffer in gel filtration chromatography.
- In personal care and cosmetics applications, BES acts as a skin desquamation agent and can protect active ingredients against degradation.
- This buffer is also commonly used in the diagnostic tests industry.
Concerns:
- BES interferes with reactions between DNA and restriction enzymes to a lesser extent than similar buffers with less substituted amine groups (e.g.: Tris Buffer), but to a greater extent than other buffers, such as HEPES Buffer, also manufactured by Hopax.
