Hopax is among the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of NDSB-256 (CAS 81239-45-4) with full chemical name as 3-(Benzyldimethylammonio) propane-1-sulfonate, is a nondetergent-sulfobetain(Additives for Protein Preparations).

 

Uses of NDSB-256 (CAS 81239-45-4):

  • NDSB-256 is a protein specific additive for solubility and stability.
  • NDSB-256 is a non-detergent sulfobetaine, It has a sulfobetaine hydrophilic group and a short hydrophobic group that cannot aggregate to form micelles, therefore NDSB-256 are not considered detergents.
  • NDSB-256 is useful in preventing protein aggregation. It is widely used to improve the efficiency of solubilization of membrane proteins, isolate nuclear proteins, protein folding, renaturation, and crystallization.
  • NDSB-256 has been used to chromatographically purify halophilic proteins in low ionic strength buffers.
  • NDSB-256 can be easily removed by dialysis and do not absorb near UV range significantly.
  • NDSB-256 are nondenaturing even at 1 M concentrations, at 1 M, NDSB-256 will restore 30% of the enzymatic activity of denatured egg-white lysozyme; at 800 mM, it will restore 16% of the enzymatic activity of denatured β-galactosidase.
  • NDSB-256 has the short hydrophobic groups combined with the charge neutralization of the sulfobetaine group, increase the extraction yield (up to 30%) of membrane, nuclear and cyto-skeletal associated proteins.
