Homotaurine(3-amino-1-propanesulfonic acid)

Homotaurine, also known as 3-amino-1-propanesulfonic acid or tramiprosate, is a compound that belongs to the taurine family. It is an amino acid derivative with a sulfonic acid group.

Homotaurine has been studied for its potential therapeutic effects, particularly in relation to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. It has been investigated for its ability to inhibit the aggregation of amyloid-beta peptides, which are associated with the formation of plaques in the brain. By preventing the aggregation of these peptides, homotaurine may help to reduce the progression of Alzheimer's disease.
